How to Start in Estonia from Zero?

When I first arrived in Estonia in 2014, it was a complete reset of my life.

I knew no one.

I had no friends.

No acquaintances.

So I turned to YouTube, and there I tried to look for any information on what I could I expect when I arrived there.

Sadly, there was hardly any. Some videos here and there, but nothing to reassure me. Nothing really spoke to me.

It was a complete reset. I started learning everything from scratch. And made tonnes of mistakes.

-I paid 300 euros for a crappy 12-bunk hostel room when I could have gotten it at quarter the price.

-I labeled Estonians as cold and unwelcoming when I could have just used their coldness to make friends with them (yep, I call it the 10% rule)

-I got rejected repeatedly when I was looking for a rental apartment when I could have just used my friend's help.

-I complained about Estonia being so so expensive when I could have focused on my earnings and utilized all the benefits that Estonia provides to earn more money.

I can go on and on.

I often joke that I was a fish in water who learned to walk on land.

But eventually, I realized that I wasn't the only one with the problems. So I turned to YouTube and started sharing videos there.

For the last three years, I have covered all aspects of life in Estonia (from accommodation to finding work, to learning Estonian and even to make friends when you are a complete introvert.

Yep. All is there.

100s of hours of content, all that you might need.

More than 150+ videos.

It is what I wish I had when I first arrived.

But you might be someone who doesn't have the time to go through all that content and wants specific and simple advice tailored to you.

This is where I launched my life in Estonia online course.

4 weeks where we discuss all the things you need to know to thrive in Estonia and don't make mistakes that cost you money, relationships, and peace of mind. (because I have done them all)

So If you are considering joining the course, this is the final week. Registrations for the first cohort close on the 3rd of February 2024

If you want to register then just reply to this email, and I will share a payment method and book your spot.

Take care and how a great start to your week.

In December 2022, I got fired in the most spectacular fashion. I was called to the office on Christmas Eve. A paper was put forward that said that I am being fired due to lack of performance and I have to sign this paper. I refused outrightly. I knew that my performance had no issue and this was completely wrong, and if I sign this paper I will be shooting myself in the foot. (I was actually headhunted for this job, I left my previous job because they approached me and wanted to take up this...

Hello Friends, This week marked the start of Ramazan across the world. If you don't know then in Ramazan Muslims abstain from eating or drinking from sunrise till sunset for the whole month. These days we have a day of about 13 hours. But back then when I first came to Estonia 10 years ago, the day lasted almost 19 hours. This was really challenging. Especially in the first week. There is a feeling of drowsiness and lethargy that makes you want to keep lying down. But this feeling goes away...

This realization hit me in my second year of living in Estonia. The first year of my life abroad was about survival: How to get a place? How to manage expenses? How to take care of food and eating out? All of these can be managed. All this needs is some experience and a helping hand. And then, in the second year things started to shift. Now that I was settled, at least for survival. I felt lonely. I had always been an introvert. But I came from an extroverted culture. So making friends was...
